  • - Furnishing
  • After all, the spaces we live in have a huge impact on our lives, and we want the spaces used by our little ones to positively contribute to the growth and development of our little ones. So here are a few tips/ ideas on how to design your kids’ rooms.

    1. Focus on what your child loves to do

In order to design the perfect room for your child, you should first get to know what your child loves to do. And children love to play!

Provide a space for your child that can accommodate a host of activities. This adds to flexible usage of space, and there nothing more that could excite a child like a space that can used for multiple activities as per will. A space to play is essential, and cutting down on furniture and storage that rest on the floor is an easy way to do it.

Explore possibilities. Design options like bunk beds and wall cabinets for storage can be thought about. Maybe go the extra mile by providing a swing?

    2. Activity area

Activities contribute positively to the child’s physical and mental development. When a child wants to perform an activity that gives him/ her the pleasure of it, they should be able to do so without the hassle of finding a suitable space for it.

Providing a work/ activity desk for your child is a must when designing kids’ rooms. Of course, this should come with its own added essentials like storage spaces. This brings me to my next point.

    3. Storage

Kids can horde a variety of objects like books and pencils to rocks and shells. The space they live in should be one that accommodates the objects of curiosity of their growing minds. The contents they may want to store in their spaces might change from time to time as they grow. But the space they live in should be one that is able to provide for their storage needs.

Look for ways in which the cupboard and wardrobe spaces can be expanded and utilized for maximum efficiency. Complete storage walls that incorporate wall cabinets along with tall wardrobes could be just one way of doing it. Storage drawers beneath the cot can be utilized. And of course! A growing mind needs books! Look for creative design solutions to incorporate bookshelves that id both functional and excites your kid at the same time.

    4. Colour

Kids love colour! And the colours you incorporate within your kids’ rooms will play a major role in much more than just the aesthetics of the space.

Incorporate colours wisely, and in such a way that they have a positive impact on the child’s psychology. Drab, dull colours could bring the child down while colours that please and excite them could contribute to keeping them active and engaged through the day. Neutral colour palettes with outs of colours here and there is one way of incorporating a variety of colours into the same room without having to worry about it becoming too much and meddling with the aesthetics of the space. This, however, is just one way of the several that already exist in place.

    5. Material, Pattern and Texture

Much like colours, the patterns and texture used within your child’s rooms could be equally important. Play with soft textures on floor mats and carpets. With regard to furniture, clean, smooth edges are preferred and will add to elevating the look of the space. What colours and patterns of bedspreads do you choose for your kids? Rugs and carpets come with a host of design and pattern options that you can explore while making your child’s room.

    6. Furniture

Creative furniture options are ones that ought to be explored while designing kids’ rooms. Kids are full of possibilities, and the furniture within their spaces should be ones that reflect this attitude. FUN is the primary aspect, and it should be had!

    7. Architecture

Despite all of it, the space should be one that contributes positively to their growth. Ensure that the space is one that is well ventilated through the day. This has a huge impact on the child’s psychology and development. Windows are exciting and the view that they offer to the world outside is further exciting. Make sure that the windows provided in your child’s rooms are appropriately place and are of the right sizes. What other elements can you add or subtract from your kids’ rooms while designing them? Make sure you invest sufficient time and energy with your architect discussing and exploring possibilities!
